I know we've all been through a lot of difficult times throughout this campaign, whether we've been Hillary supporters or Obama supporters. In the interest of full disclosure, I for one, have been an Obama supporter since day one, and despite any animosity or irritation I felt as a result of Hillary's campaign, I was always certain that I would vote for the Democratic nominee, regardless of the name at the top of the ticket. There is far too much at stake for us to let another Republican control the White House for another four years.
I certainly hope that those who felt Hillary Clinton to be the best candidate can now join those of us who support Barack Obama and rally around the banner of the Democratic Party and the progressive causes we all hold very near and dear to our hearts.

I would like to take this opportunity (as I saw both candidates in their very respectful speeches tonight) to extend the olive branch to a group of people that should not have been separated from each other.
We are all Democrats. Regardless of our intra-party bickering, our respective candidates positions on the issues are differentiated in minute detail, but are drastically different from the formidable candidate we all face in John McCain.
We all want to end the war in Iraq and prevent another war from happening in Iran.
We all want to bring our men and women courageously fighting in the Middle East to come home as soon as possible, preferably all in one piece.
We all want those without adequate health care to have access to the coverage they so desperately need, whether it's our Grandfather with leukemia, our sister with mental illness, or a homeless veteran we see on the street who accidentally fell 20 feet from one shipdeck to another and broke his back.
We all want an energy plan that explores the use of alternative fuels, as petroleum prices are at a premium, and are one of the worst contributors to our pollution problem, rather than one that is drawn up in the back rooms of the White House between Dick Cheney and some "undisclosed" members of the "energy industry."
We all want to do what we can to stop Global Warming, Climate Change, or whatever the disaster that may destroy our planet is being dubbed these days by both legitimate scientists and Bush-Cheney energy policists alike. Just because it's cold and windy in Chicago doesn't make the aforementioned "a myth."
We all want to make sure that Social Security is safe for all Americans, be they 85, 45, 25, or 5 years old. That doesn't mean privatization.
We all want the same things.
Let's fight together to make them all a reality.
In the mean time, let's shake hands and agree that we will all unite behind whomever is the Democratic candidate that helps us achieve these goals.
Deal?
